You either love them or you hate them but as a recent convert to Caravan Living I must introduce you to the wacky world of the Katryoshka Caravan Club!!! What started as a minor sideline has evolved into a major obsession and the garden at Whitehouse Farm looks like something out of my Big Fat Gypsy Wedding…on ACID!
We can assure anyone who is sitting on the fence, once you have dipped your toe in to caravan life you will never go back to the real world and wonder what you ever did without one (whatever you do DO NOT consult your husband/partner).
You don’t have to even go anywhere in it; just keep it in your garden as a year round retreat from the madness of the family home; from ‘him indoors’ and a space of your own in which you can indulge all your creativity consulting only your own inner Nicholas Haslam/Martha Stewart!
You make your own space, your own rules and ask nobody’s permission/opinion on YOUR desired paint colour, your wild choice of purple fabric and you will have the perfect space to enjoy with friends by candlelight with a bottle of wine or two or a sanctuary in which to read the paper on a sunny Sunday morning.
Most ‘vans are equipped with basic cooking equipment so a cup of tea or coffee is always available and can be rustled up at the strike of a match.
Of course the next step will be the urge to take your mobile home on to the open road for music festivals or weekends away. It is the ultimate comfortable way to spend 3 days in a field and you can forget about horrible tents…except for the children (they always want to come) so pitch a tent for them as far away as possible. This method works for all concerned.
